Terms & Conditions
We have evolved our sweeping process over the years into a logical and highly efficient method of removing soot, debris and obstructions, such as birds nests and fallen brickwork, from within chimneys. We will enter your property fully aware of the type of fitting you have attached to your chimney pot and the likely reason for it. We will usually have an accurate estimation, through experience, of how many chimney rods it will take to reach the chimney stack and your fitting.
Having lay a tarpaulin sheet on the floor in front of the fireplace, we then carry out a visual inspection of any appliance/fireplace and the inside of the chimney using a powerful torch.
Once we have assessed equipment required, we then begin to seal the chimney opening against soot and debris, using our sweeping sheets, which are secured in position using various specialist adhesive tapes. Having sheeted up correctly, we are then able to insert our brush and rods. We do not usually carry out any sweeping motions at this time as the main task is to ensure that the chimney is not obstructed by any nests, dislodged brickwork or other blockages, prior to employing sweeping motions.
As rods are added and the brush is pushed upwards inside the chimney, resistance caused by the bristles being bent back on themselves and pressing against the inside of the chimney should generally support the weight of the rods attached beneath it, when left to hang unsupported. Your sweep should experience some resistance on changing direction of movement of the rods from an upwards and downwards direction and on twisting the rods and brush to work them up through the chimney and ultimately up through the chimney pot.
Once the brush is out of the top of the chimney and we have confirmed that there
are no blockages, we will then lower the brush and commence sweeping, one rod at
a time, until the brush has appeared back at ground level. During this process, any
debris, soot and dust is caught behind the sweeping sheets, ready for proper removal
by your sweep, using a hand-
Once all debris, soot and sheeting has been properly removed, we will then conduct
a chimney smoke test in accordance with building regulations. This ensures that your
chimney is operating in optimum state and highlights any problems not rectified by
proper cleaning, such as down-
Finally, we will then complete and hand to you a detailed Certificate showing that you, as the owner have taken all reasonable steps to ensure that your chimney and/or appliance has been professionally cleaned, maintained and/or serviced.

Sweeping from Roof -
On occasion it is possible to sweep a chimney from the top down where conventional means are not available, (i.e. Fixed Damper Plates etc). We provide the option to have the chimney swept there and then, where the cost would be considerably lower (and to eliminate a delay) for the means of usual sweeping to be installed.
